FOCUS!

(that one is for jainey)

So this weekend sees me running yet another half marathon, the ninth of my running career. I only started REALLY running in 2006 with a little 5k race that holds a special place in my heart and it has spiralled out from there to even coaching Running Room clinics with Super Sam.

But next year, I’m going to go where no mouse has gone before and testing my limits: the marathon.

I know I’ve brought it up before, but in a few months it’s going to become all consuming, so I thought I should warn you as it’s going to change everything around here. Yes, I know I’m going to be a whole new brand of crazy, become a part of a crowd that I truly do not understand on a good day and perhaps become a person that I hate, but I hope that you stick with me for that entire journey.

So, you may notice from now until next May that my focus will shift to striving to  eat a lot cleaner, to running a  heck of a lot more, to talking about how much my body hates me, but hopefully I will still love it despite all of the rolls and scars that make it unique, that make it me.

And maybe, like Krissie did before me, you’ll choose to run a race along side of me. Maybe not a full, but a half, a 10 mile, a 10k or a 5k. Just something to be active and put the rubber to the road. Or maybe not. Athletic supporters are always welcome too :)

Either way, there’s a lot of great stuff on the horizon that scares the crap out of me.

I hope you stick around and help me through it.

Applause! You can do it.

I have been entertaining the idea of a half-marathon for, well, all of 2010. I decided to get better at 10 km first and I think I have done that. I will likely begin training with a RR clinic in January for the half-marathon for the Ottawa Race Weekend.

Uh oh. I have said this out loud to friends before but have never written it down. What am I doing?!

I believe you are running a half marathon, my friend.

I'll see you at the finish line :)

Good luck with the half, will be perfect weather! I'm thinking of Ottawa as well next year, I hear awesome things about it. Only ever worry about the freak heat waves that can happen late May.

@NK - YAY!

@Nif - You'll have to include YOUR training too, you know :)

@Yumke - the gang at CCRR have nothing but good things to say about it. It would be great to see you in Ottawa too! Have a great run tomorrow :)

Oh, good job Mousie! Picture me on the sidelines cheering as you sail past the finish line :)

I decided I shouldn't start running again until I can walk a mile without damn foot going cranky on me. So please do some running for me!

Go Marie!

Wow, good luck on your half later today! I took the plunge and signed up for a 5K the day after the US Thanksgiving. Next year, I will conquer more...maybe a half (haven't tried that in 5 years!)! Can't wait to hear more about your changes as you prepare for a marathon.
