There goes another night...

Thanks for all of your suggestions. The thing is, I do keep busy most nights with the gym and running. I do already knit, but not as much as I used to. Plus I know how to sew, etc. (I'm a happy homemaker waiting to happen, I swear!), so learning things like that are already done. But I realized that I do have another thing to keep me busy. Mom and Dad came over last night to drop off some bookshelves I needed and my mom reminded me of it. "Are you still going to help your Dad with Scouts on Tuesdays?" EUREKA! Apparently my Dad had been scared to ask me again, since I had agreed to it in June, but of course I was willing to help him out. See, once upon a time, about 15 years ago, I was a scout. That was the first year they allowed females to join and I was one of the first to sign up in the GTA. I have the GREATEST time hanging out with my Daddy-o and his scout troop (including camping, as seen here in the fall of 2006). Helping children find a love of the outdoors, learning new skills and being active will be great. Let's just hope I don't want to string any of them up by their toenails after 30 minutes. So there's one night a week down. Only a few more to think about. :)

How did we end up with such adorable parents?

Seriously?

Are you actually bored?

What about that Try-a-Tri that you, me and Shortie Short are training for next year?

Get thee and thy waterwings to the pool, miss thang! We gotta learn to not drown by next summer.

Or come and take healthy cooking classes with me at GBC . . .

Hey! I think waterwings would look good on me :)

And I'll try swimming when this half business you roped me into is donezo.

So hmmph!

YAY! That's something to do!!!

However...as much as I love kidlets...that much time with that many kiddos might lead to a drinking problem...

Yay!! I ♥ Scouting (but I was a Girl Guide) :)

Hmmm... what about another volunteer something-something? At a woman's shelter? With refugees? A friend of mine knows a whole slew of people in volunteer positions; I could ask her to get in touch with you if you wanted?

Or you could come visit MEEEEE!!! :)

I was home sick with the flu yesterday and I had homemade chicken soup on the stove and I am embarassed to say how many bowls of it I actually had becuase 1)it was prize winning chicken soup from scratch; and 2)I was just plain bored. I wasn't hungry. Hubby even asked me if I was "sure" I wanted to eat it "again". Frig. I think that will be something that will always no matter what be a struggle.

Today I'm home sick, but I'm trying to sweat it out, so I caught myself off guard and started cleaning - didn't think about snacking outside my plan once - in fact I had to stop myself for lunch. It's the keeping busy thing definitely, but really hard to do every single night.

Helping with scouts sounds like sooo much fun :-)

now that sounds like some fun! plus spending time with your Dad, I love it!

how is your Dad doing with his weight loss plans? I just think he is the cutest!

marie said...

@shirls - I think he's only a few pounds away from his 10 per cent and has kept off about 20lbs. I can't wait for the day he gets to onederland.

He doesn't follow WW exactly, but always goes to his WI. He always tells me, in his cutest voice, "It's hard for a little guy like me, ya know? But I keep plugging away!"

How can you not love him? :P

Woohoo! Have fun at scouts!

I can so see you being one of the first female scouts - suits your groundbreaking/glass ceiling breaking nature!

Ok what is this about a try-a-tri, you didn't tell me!!!! I'm so excited for you. That will definitely take up a night in the winter!

Go Mouse Dad, Go!! how super exciting!

Mouse, that hat is so great on you. Love the red.

And congrats to your dad - one day a few years back mine just started eating right and quit smoking cold-turkey... he went from about 250lbs at 5'11 to around 150-160 to this day. It still blows my mind, and makes me so freakin' proud!
