For four years I've called this place home.
It was my first foray into adulthood, leaving the comfort of my parents nest and striking out onto my own (albeit with my younger brother) into this big house in the middle of the big city.
But now it's a shell of its former self, filled with boxes of memories, good times and my life, some packed neatly and with care, others tossed together careless and with haste.
And all that's left in my big, enviable room is a mattress on the floor and the beautiful sunrise.
Today starts a new chapter in my life that scares the crap out of me.
And I kind of feel as empty as this room.

7 nibbles at the cheese:
Good luck with the move today. I know it can be such a bittersweet experience. I can't wait to see pictures of your new place.
Moving can be daunting, and somehow the emptiness brings on feelings akin to losing an old friend. On the positive side, the nesting instinct will quickly kick in, as you transform your new space into a home full of warmth and love.
It's weird the way an empty room can feel depressing, even if it's part of a transition to a better place.
Moving is psychologically draining, isn't it? Best of luck with the change--I'm sure it will lead to great things.
Good luck with the move! You'll always have great memories of your first "adult" home :).
Good Luck with the move Marie!!!
Don't be too sad - it's exciting - you're going to be living in your own apartment!!! You get to decorate it and do everything YOUR way - you'll see - it's going to be great!!! You'll love it!!! :)
