Quote du Jour

We had an awesome speaker at run clinic last night. Chad Barltrop from Infinite Fitness here in TO who spoke to us about cross training (and then inflicted a great deal of pain on us). So, the peanut gallery asks a question along the lines of the relationship between working out and weight loss. Great question, really. Hotty McTrainer nails the question and fuckin sticks the landing. His answer - calories in, calories out. Healthy eating will always be the key to your success. I could have kissed him....but I don't think that I need his wife after me. But then he gave us this little nugget that made me want to have his babies. "You can go through our bootcamp session, work hard and burn off about 500-800 calories. But then you can go to that patio right over there (gestures to one through the window of the store), have a pint of beer and ONE chicken wing, and you've blown away all of your hard work." Amen, brother. AMEN.

Definitely.

It always shocks me when I put a really hard workout in terms of consumption. 500 calories of sweat and burn ... one piece of naan bread. Ouch.

Still, when I'm eating sensibly, those 500 extra calories go a looong way, and the workout is totally worth it, physically and mentally. :)

Hotty McTrainer sounds like a useful guy to have around!!!

It's sick how quickly you can negate those calories...though sometimes it's a very yummy process!!!

People are so bad for justifying food. They think that because they WALKED for 20 minutes that they can have a blizzard from Dairy Queen. They just don't get how it really works! People at my work (especially older ladies) talk like that all the time....

Oh God....that really puts it into perspective huh? Wow....I'll be thinking twice before I ever have a chicken wing now. Seriously....it's nuts to think that something as 'trivial' as a beer and ONE wing can virtually ruin a whole work out session....

Er... clicked on a link and found out that if I get on a rowing machine I will turn into a slender glowing bride in record time! Oh, and saw some cute guy sweating. Chad perhaps?

That's a seriously good reminder though about how easy it is to fritter away hard work with senseless indulgence. Treats should be special and conscious and totally enjoyed.
