I choose...

I choose to bring my own lunch. Although this prevents me from enjoying lunches out with coworkers, this has also kept me on track for the last few weeks and assisted in a lovefest with my scale of late. I choose to prepare larger amounts of whole wheat pasta, brown rice, chicken, pork and lean meats on a sunday night so that I'm not tempted to buy take out when I get home late from a run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I choose to get my americano on ice every now and again when I want a cool treat, because I've always had a hard time justifying drinking my points (although chocolate milk is mighty fine!). I choose to not let the negativity that I know is swirling around in the background get me down. I choose to be myself. We are unique individuals. We have faults. We have experiences that shape us. People are quick to judge us from their own experiences and value systems. Fair to a point but offer constructive criticism, don't break them down. I choose to move forward. That's why I run, I don't chase.

I have been a lazy *ss and not been preparing meals ahead of time, which has been my downfall (do you know how many places there are in a 1 block radius of my apartment to get food?). It was much easier to be on track when I couldn't really order from anywhere and didn't have restaurants near me in Maryland. NYC is EVIL for trying to stay on a healthy eating path. But, I am going to Costco tomorrow with a friend who has a car, so I am going to stock up on frozen chicken and tilapia (my new favorite thing). I have found, like you my mouse, that cooking in larger quantities makes reheating oh so much easier than starting from scratch after a long hard day!

You rock, Trixie.

That is all.

And NYC is NOT evil. I am envious that you live there.

*sigh*

Sometimes when I make big batches of food ahead of time, I feel like I have to eat it instead of what my body is craving, because I don't want to waste the food. A few weeks ago I made a big batch of quinoa and wheat berries, and it was definitely too much. Do you pre-portion your meals, or for example, just scoop out the pasta from a big bowl?

Great choices Mouse. I choose to move forward - great, I love it. Look back only to evaluate so you can move forward effectively. AND, I love that you're head is back in the game - maybe it's the weather.

Great points! That is why you have been so successful and motivating - you REALLY get it! It is all about choices.

Eurydice - I use my measuring cups.

Just ask my brother - they're in the sink every day.

You'd think a cup isn't enough, but once you throw in a cup of veggies and some meat, a bowl becomes pretty darn full.
