Running, eh?

I had read about the newest running mag to hit the stands a little while ago on another wicked running blog, but had yet to find it anywhere.
While rushing to the subway this morning it just happened to smack me in the face.
Canadian Running is only three issues old and is pretty darn impressive for CanCon if you ask me.
You'd come to expect Canadian publications, TV shows, etc. to be a little lacklustre next to their counterparts south of the border with less sponsorship behind them, but this little puppy shows some signs of life and is packed full of running goodies for something still in its infancy.
Granted, it is still a little lean and does have a lot of content I've probably read elsewhere, but I like how it brings it home rather than having to read more US focused races, routes and highlights. Reading about Canadian heroes is refreshing.
And now I know where to run in Edmonton if my sorry ass ever ends up there :P
Pick up a copy if you're so inclined. Worth a gander.

Funny, I always expect stuff from Canada to be BETTER than the superficial stuff that US magazines/products/books/whatever pump out.

And, off topic, do I see Jann Arden's name on the cover? I'm a HUGE fan! Are there pictures? Does she say anything funny? She was hilarious when I saw her in concert. I must get my hands on a copy.

I've read a couple of the issues and I really like. Yeah a lot of the info isn't new but neither is any of the info in Runner's World!!

Thanks for the heads up! I love being able to take advantage of the info/coupons/whatever in Canadian magazines. Unfortunately Winnipeg often gets skipped anyway, but still :P.

Crabby - there's an interview with her and one big, sassy photo of her where she looks fab.

There was one line that made me giggle. The article is mainly about her running and changing her lifestyle, losing weight, etc. When asked if she'll be running any races in the future, she replied, "I am not very competitive and I don't like crowds." For someone who makes a living performing to them on a regular basis, that made me titter a bit.

She is amazing live. If you haven't seen her, GO!
