Sometimes Google Ads Go Too Far

Why the hell would I be interested in finding BBW Lady love?
We're used to seeing Google ads and sponsored links splashed across the tops and sides of Google searches and blogs and even the news items we read on popular online magazines and such.

But Gmail is weird about the way in which they put up ads and sponsored links, hiding them across the top bar, barely visible to you unless you look carefully...and look carefully at the image there and see what I'm talking about.

Google explains the process of how the ads come about in your mail account with Gmail:

Advertising and related information are shown using a completely automated process. Ads are selected for relevance and served by Google computers using the same contextual advertising technology that powers our AdSense program. This technology enables Google to target dynamically changing content such as email or daily news stories.

No humans will read the content of your email in order to target such advertisements or related information. Because the ads and related pages are matched to information that is of interest to you, we hope you'll find them relevant and useful.

Well, as much as I enjoyed the fact that yesterday you sent me an link for "BBW Romance" and encouraged me to meet "Fat BBW ladies today!" I don't think your system is working quite well.

So let me get this straight - I write A BLOG about someone making negative comments about themselves, using the word fat and cow and suddenly I am interested in DATING people who are of similar size, who see themselves in a positive light (we like good self-esteem around here but do enjoy good health too), but have one problem....

I'm hetero. Sorry ladies.

Another good chuckle came from my things have changed post where they had a sponsored link to a step-by-step guide to starting a hot dog cart. Just how they went from hotel conference food to street meat is BEYOND me. And my posts about COLD weather ended up earning me links to COLD calling tips. Great if I was in sales...

I'm well versed in Google Analytics, Webmaster tools, Apps, etc, but this baffles me.

So thank you for stretching the term relevance to new lengths but I'm waiting to see how you see this sponsored link in relation to my fat cow post is at all useful to me, as I'm the only one reading MY email...

Care to shed some light, Google?

Wow! I have my gmail downloaded into my mail client, but that makes me REALLY want to go back and look at what some of my ads have been!

I LOVE those inappropriate google email ads--they mystify me every time I notice them. Do they ever sell anything that way?

Let's see, I'll check my email; what have I got for my current post on senior fitness besides gym ads?

--Ambitious Young Aussie Model seeks... something or other (it's hard to tell what, but I don't think it's anything available at a senior fitness center) and

--The First Collapsible Football Holder

I do not get it.

Ok this isn't about this post, sorry. But I believe you are a running expert (yes, you are) and wanted to know your opinion on those little things you put on your shoe and they track your miles etc? Do you have one? How much are they? etc etc
