Ka-Thunk

The weights hit the ground with a thud and the meathead went scurrying away, huffing and puffing. I looked at my reflection in the weight room mirror and then rolled my eyes. The guy nearly did SERIOUS damage to his feet with those weights. He could barely do the last two reps. No clue why he chose such heavy weights. He was lifting free weights that were about my combined weight and just one of them was about the weight that I had lost. and that's when it hit me with the force of the weight hitting the floor. We wonder how we walk around carrying the weight for so long, hurting ourselves, adding health problems, stress on our bodies, and other hidden factors that we don't discover until it's too late, and here I am silently bitching at someone getting healthy yet he can carry around my own weight in two hands like it's no big thing! I wanted to run over there and try and pick up just one of those 70lb weights but I knew I'd embarrass myself, yet he could effortlessly pick up one in each hand. and yet I carried weight around like that for years and I'm no meathead. Well, I was actually, just not of the gym rat variety.... ...and then I realized I was staring at the guy, who although was very good looking, I did not want to engage in conversation with at the gym. I quickly wiped away the tears that had formed at the corners of my eyes and scurried my arse out of the weight room. I'm not going to bitch about my weight anymore. No siree, for I am light as a feather. Meatheads can pick me up with two hands.

that was a great read, truly enjoyed the reminder :0)

I once stacked up weights in the gym to equal the amount I'd lost and I tried to pick it up (stupid I know) I could barely budge it was a great day

I love those stories! When you think about how much all that weight is sitting on your body, damaging your heart, hurting your feet, ankles and legs that have to carry it around all day, it's crazy what we put our bodies through. I'm glad yours doesn't have to carry the burden anymore :)

*laughs* I giggled at the thought of meatheads carrying you around little mouse!!

I loved this post...we need that reminder a LOT...my doctor tried to make me think of it in terms of water once...but I have never carried 80 lbs of water before (or tried to)...though those cooler bottles are a bitch...

You still are gonna bitch about the meatheads showing off and their bad form and stuff right? good intentions or whatever, they're still meatheads...
I'd like to get strong enough that I could carry/lift my own bodyweight. Seems like you'd just be ready for whatever then.
