It's amazing what a little exercise will do...

I keep forgetting to weigh myself. ...and no, I'm not making an excuse. Like this morning. I went downstairs to make my breakfast and kept thinking, "I have to weigh myself when I go back upstairs." But then I got all wrapped up in the coverage of that fire on tv (it impacts my day), started mindlessly eating my breakfast, drinking my coffee and went about getting ready. *POOF* TOTALLY FORGOT. I think it's because I'm feeling pretty comfortable about my body right now. The digital devil can tell me whatever it wants and I kind of laugh at it. It doesn't want to tell me anything below 146 lately (the bitch) and the other scale always likes me though and cooperates fully, showing me around 140 or just under. But it doesn't matter - I'm running my ass off and lifting weights like a fiend, even in front of the meat heads. The best was the other day when one of the them tried to show off by lifting a pair that were obviously too heavy for him (he tried to get them up to a press position three times before getting his buddy to spot him) and then he dropped them in a dramatic flourish after one grunt filled set of about ten...right on his squash racquet below the bench, crushing the frame. It took all of my strength NOT to laugh at him and his friend as they inspected the damage. But my tummy feels less squishy, my arms are starting to look more defined again and my cardio is definitely improving. It's amazing what a month of hard work will do for your outsides and insides, eh? :)

LMAO - there's men like that at my gym too, I'm doing my weight session and feeling great and they're showing off and look like they're about to die.

so glad that you're feeling at home in your body! yay for definition.

and that's hilarious about the loser with the squash racquet. I don't know if I would have tried so hard not to laugh ;)

That is awesome! Awesomeness #1 you are sticking to a great strengthening routine! Awesomeness #2 that it's making you feel so good you don't care about the scale!

I think those are great reasons to keep it up, and for me to try to follow your lead.

I totally agree, I just feel so much better about myself when I'm at the gym then when I'm not, it empowers me :0)

I'm glad that dude broke his racquet! And equally glad that you're feeling so good getting into your routine!

WOOHOO GIRL!!!! You are so friggin amazing!!!

I always have a good internal giggle at the guys at the gym...most of them sound like they are giving birth or something and they do one set and then go pat each other on the ass for ten minutes all the while talking about how great they are!!!

Mouse,
It IS amazing how great exercise will make you feel. I always leap out of bed when it's a day I meet with my trainer and that glow of strength training stays with me in a way that plain cardio just doesn't. Here's to sporting awesome abs and intimidating guns! You put those gym rats to shame!

Girl,

I see you are back on track and happy.

One thing age and experience teach -- and I hope I don't sound condescending -- is that this too shall pass.

Last I looked you were in a funk. Now you're not. You're in control. Remember that the next time things seems chaotic.
