A race you say?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight! That little 5k I signed up for like a month ago is on Sunday. Whoopsie. And here I am all bloated, a bit out of shape and in no condition to run a race. FAB-U-L(m)OUS(e)! We'll see if my turkey stuffed and chocolate filled ass makes it to the starting line on the 30th bright and early. I haven't run since Saturday (when I conned Jeep into 6km in Central Park, which in all fairness was the slowest I have ever run in my life) and I feel pretty damn doughy and gross. BUT I did have some pretty good NSVs yesterday. I ran into a guy I went to high school with at the black hole (aka: dominion) and he barely recognized me. I hate doing the awkward reintroduction to people ("Soandso? Hi! It's Marie...remember? We went to high school together?...") but then had this weird amazed look on his face the entire time we caught up, which made me sort of glad I did. Then a guy I sort of saw a few years randomly resurfaced through what I thought was a defunct email address of mine and we ended up having a late night adventure in China Town for hot and sour soup where he couldn't get over how much I had changed and how many points Chinese food is (so he ordered me steamed Chinese broccoli). It was really nice to catch up with him and learn about how well he's doing. Now if I could only channel that positivity into my running...

Run Run Run! If I sent you the positivity, would you run for me, too? :-P You are my hero! Congrats on the NSVs. You are fantastic.

I'm glad you didn't get lost in the black hole. :)

oh yeah - I was about to sign up and then I thought of the cold and then I chickened out. While you are out there I'll be in my warm cozy bed - ha ha!!

Those are some awesome NSVs - so good of you to actually approach, I usually run away!

I know the mouse can do a 5km and the time it takes to do it, who cares, what is more important, that you did it or that is was a "race"?

I love your NSVs girl! I always hesitate when I know I'm going to have to do that re-introduction thing... sometimes I completly forget that I have to, that makes it even more weird, lol

Isn't it fun to bump into people and they don't recognize you because you LOOK FANTASTIC!!!!

I used to avoid the meetings with people who only knew me fat when I was thinner. But that's not the case anymore. We actually sat at the table beside a woman I hadn't seen since I was thinner. She obviously didn't recognize me. And I was too embarrassed to reintroduce myself. And she got me the most awesome dish towels for my wedding (almost 5 years ago!) that I still use.

I can't wait to hear about how the race goes!

And now there are two random men out in the world dreaming of dating our little mouse.

Can't wait for the race pictures! (heh heh...)
