I ♥ NY

But not Times Square at Christmouse. Here we go...no food pics. They're on my camera, which my little brother likes to hide in his room. Good - Taking the TTC to the airport. Saves the huge taxi cab fares or limo fees Bad - sneaking your bro the metropass to try and save a token Ugly - running from transit police Good - Taxi cabs make good getaway cars Bad - Friday afternoon holiday traffic in downtown TO makes for a slow escape Ugly - $10 later we were one subway stop away from the scene of the crime...and still in TO, nowhere near the airport Good - our flight was the only NYC flight on time. BAHA! take that! Bad - people do not listen to boarding instructions. how did you in row 15 get in your seat before me, in 27, when they called 25 and up? HMMPH! Ugly - the vein popping out of my neck with all of the people and their unchecked luggage getting on the plane before me. Love flying, hate airports Good - WE ARRIVE! WE ARRIVE! Bad - Uh...how do we get to our hotel? Ugly - the shuttle we take making us get off and get on another without any real instruction, leaving us at grand central or the port authority would not have been swell Good - staying in a hotel three blocks away from central park for less than $200 a night - SCORE! - and being able to run it in the morning - DOUBLE SCORE! Bad - the stench of central park and my garmin not knowing where the hell we were for a whole km Ugly - for a fashion savvy city, some people wear some WEIRD outfits to run in... Good - We never got lost on the subway! WHEEE! Bad - there was blood splattered on the floor of the first station we went to...er.... Ugly - why do i keep envisaging the scene from ghost where the scary guy goes through the train...*shiver* Good - John's reaction to Times Square was priceless. Apparently he's easily distracted by bright, shiny things Bad - apparently everyone else in the free world is in NYC this weekend making it next to impossible to move through the place, including lineups at midnight for new air jordans Ugly - when some biatch stepped on the back of my shoe Good - Picking ANY restaurant on 9th, between 50th and 57th to eat at. Good experiences all around Bad - Picking a chain restaurant in Times Square to eat at Ugly - Picking the Olive Garden in Times Square for dinner where you are greeted with, "welcome to the Olive Garden. the current wait time is an hour to an hour and a half" Good - Who needs a harbour boat tour to go see the statue of liberty when you can take the Staten Island Ferry for FREE! Bad - you know something is up when you can booze it up on the 15min ferry ride. Note watery budweiser in jeep's hand (a la a scene from working girl) Ugly - Staten Island. Take the ferry right back.... Good - Skating in Rockefeller - that's a good activity to stay active while on vacation.... Bad - oh, you have to pay to skate, right Ugly - Oh, that's the crazy ass lineup and it's miserable and raining? I can only imagine if it was sunny and nice Good - Top of the Rock is much cheaper than Empire with a similar stunning view Bad - overcast & raining makes for a limited view Ugly - Methinks Jeep is afraid of heights Good - SHOPPING!!! Every store imaginable! Bad - SHOPPING the weekend before Christmouse and the freakin hershey store. You have HOW MANY types of kisses?!?!??! Ugly - Macy's and Bloomingdale's the weekend before Christmouse Good - Attempting to recreate movie scenes from Big Business, Big, etc. Bad - Attempting to recreate them in the rain is very limiting Ugly - seeing your muffin top in a pic is a GIANT wakeup call Good - Getting an early flight home means you'll get back in time for family events on Christmas Eve and maybe get in some last minute shopping Bad - getting up at 3:45 for your 6:15 flight Ugly - getting to LGA, printing up your ticket and seeing that you're now booked on an 11:15 flight without prior notice. Merry Christmouse to you too, Air Canada. I adored spending 6+hours in the airport picking my nose when I could have been sleeping in a hotel room I was still technically paying for All in all it was worth it. We needed more time and a real NY tour guide for nightlife but it was an experience. I am thankful to be back at home though. Yonge St. has never looked so small and so quiet.

Looks like you had a wonderful time! I have never been to NYC, but I did make several pre-Christmas trips to Chicago.

I'm glad you had a great time, although waiting in airports is not my favorite activity either.

HOw fun!
Kinda wish you had a cameraphone or something to take some pics of those "weird" outfits on your run, lol!

You look so very cute with your long hair and puffy coat!

Oooh I'm so jealous you got to be in new york around Christmas. I went in November, but they were just starting to decorate. One day I am going there for New Years!! Glad you had fun.

Woo hoo! Sounds like a fun-filled whirlwind trip. Wonder how many calories are burned sprinting away from traffic police? Good thing you've done so much running; you're prepared for occasions like that.

I do like your GBU posts :)

Do you know that if a flight is especially turbulent, they don't charge for wine? Yeah, it was fun finding that out, not. But hooray! No more plane flights!
