Everyone else is doing it...

RESOLUTION TIME, BABY!!! WHEEEEEEE! So last year I made some - let's review:
  • Maintain my WW success (no back sliding this time!!) and track honestly!
  • Run another 5k and find a 10K race
  • Finally get my G2
  • Try to be more positive in life
  • Work on finding a new career (long term goal)
So let's see how I did...
  • Done and not so done. I get in fits of good tracking and then get lazy. This definitely is a longterm goal
  • Done and done, PLUS a ten-miler and TWO half marathons. WHEEEEEEE!
  • G2...right. Knew I forgot SOMETHING
  • I TRIED, I did....
  • Still working on it :)
So this year I need some more tangible things...
  • Haul ass out of the little amount of debt - Credit cards = devil
  • Track HONESTLY - Even if it's a bad day, it WILL be written down...somewhere (note to self: buy a new journal today)
  • Keep up the crazy ass running - Already signed up for Sporting Life, Nissan Ten Miler and Scotia Half and plan on running the TO half for fun with some ladies from the GDT who have never run one before
  • Try not to dress like a slob so often - granted I work in an environment that is business casual, I don't have to sit so much on the casual side. I need to remember to dress for the job I want...
  • Stop neglecting my personal journal - I've kept one since I was 8 or 9 and used to go through a book a year (granted, it was full of "ooh! some boy looked at me today!"). My current journal I've been using for the last four years. I think I need to move onto a new one by the end of this year
  • Find new activities - Perhaps I'll finally cave and become a scout leader like my dad always pressures me to become, or maybe i'll finally suck it up and try that kickboxing class I wanted to do, or maybe I'll just simply start using the classes at my gym to my advantage. No matter what way you slice it, I need to fill up more free time in my sched and less space in my bed
  • Read more - I have DOZENS of books that are collecting dust on my shelf. I start them and put them down, never to return to them. I will read at least a book a month
  • Get that license thing - I am NOT putting it on next year's list AGAIN
I'm sure there's more to add to it, but I'm drawing a blank. I know I had others when I was reading lists on other blogs but I am lacking the mental capacity to recall them right now (but have some built up anger from work issues if you want someone kicked in the box :D). So here's to a fab 2008, much like 2007 was :)

your resolutions sound so much like what i would write it is scary i tell you! i hadn't thought about doing resolutions this year, but i think i am going to now. you've got me thinking

p.s. on your list you talk about getting a license - a license for what, pray tell?

I think you did amazing, seriously "find a 10k race" to 1/2 marathon?? come on, that is amazing!

what the heck is a G2?

We have a graduated drivers license system in Ontario. Learners' permit is a G1 and is good for five years. After one year, you do a road test and get a G2. Then a year later you can do another road test to get your FULL license.

I have only a G1 :(

Nice resolutions! Graduated licensing is such a pain. I'm glad I got my license when I was 16 :P.

Happy New Year Marie!!

I loved the look back at what you accomplished, Congrats!

Good resolutions---unlike a lot of people, you make very achievable resolutions. Before reading this I refused to make any resolutions, but now I'm starting to rethink that.

On side note, you mentioned your journal (for food, not diary). Do you have a special kind---or is it just like a notebook.Do you just log your food or put a little paragraph about how you did for the day as well?

Thanks for getting me thinking!
Happy New Year!!

sarah - I am a WW online subscriber, so i track there to count my points, but I also like buying a regular yearly calendar/journal to write down what I ate/recipes/ideas so I have another copy of things (or when the web site is being a SOB).

sorry to make this into a conversation between u & i....but are you having issues w/ ww journal today? I haven't logged in a few days and today (weigh in day) my flex points are at 29.5 even though I haven't eaten any and then its asking if I want to bank any points. I haven't banked anything since the old WW program 5 years ago!!

hahahah - cute.

people have issues like that all of the time. they usually just close their browser windows and restart Internet Explorer or Firefox, whatever you're using.

Totally a known glitch. Could be the influx of new users ;)

Great new years resolutions!

And I love that you actually went back to see how you did on last years--and that you did so well on them.

I think the number of people who actually follow through on most of their resolutions is really teeny--congratulations!

You kicked butt on your running goals from last year! That is awesome.

I find that buying a new journal to track my eating is so inspiring - like I have a clean slate. I just got a pretty pink one 2 weeks ago. So maybe I am wasting paper, with all my neglected ones....but it really works!

You rocked some of last years goals - esp the running!! As much as it sucks and is boring the G2 really should be your priority!!

Hey and give yourself some credit on the postivity - your number of rants have gone done by like 200%, that has to count for something!!
