One Word

GENIUS! I'm reading Business Week this week and came across this bad boy. Apparently office furniture guru Steelcase is going to try and marry fitness and furniture into one mega unit. I thought it was a joke as I can't find it anywhere on the Steelcase web site but find it on every blog known to man. But if it's in BW it's got to be true, right? Now how do I get this past the head cheese...

I've seen an actual working model of this in a healthy workplace class I took last spring. They also showed an indoor walking track in which a group was having a walk and meeting and as they passed they wrote on white boards on the walls around the track...

I say whatever moves you is all good :0)

I don't know about this. 8 hours of walking while trying to hold the hands steady and type might prove more than I can handle.
OTOH, Aliant has desks that raise and lower so their call-centre staff can stand or sit while working, or alternate at different times of the day. Nice perk if you ask me.

Ok, seriously, as great of an idea as this is, I have issues holding a book and walking on the treadmill let alone typing up my work!!!

That would be sweet. I'd be forever losing my concentration and falling off the stupid thing though :P

Yeah, I'm with Jen on that one - I can't even read while on the treadmill! I bet I could type though - maybe.

(Did you catch that, "while I'm on the treadmill" hehehe)

Hilarious! I'm with the others, though, about productivity and accuracy concerns.

my personal fave is when people sit on the balance ball at their desks instead of a chair. i've only really seen this done by one person, but there must be tons of people out there who do it. i figure if you can balance on a ball for hours at your desk, you can work your way up to walking on a treadmill at your desk. ha!
