I could just burst

and no, this isn't a rant about my pants not fitting or me eating too much yesterday. I found out a secret yesterday. A BIG secret. but I can't share it with you, because it's not my story to tell. ok, ok...i'll tell you SOME of it! put down the sticks. Let's just say someone I love has done something and I'm so incredibly proud them. They're taking charge of their health and doing something to make a difference...with weight watchers! They've been going for two weeks but they were afraid to tell me in case they fail. They wanted to wait until they lost a few more pounds but I stumbled upon the evidence because I'm so nosey. Fail or not, they took the first step, which is THE HARDEST, and I love, admire and respect them for that ALWAYS. and then I bawled like a big baby. I was full of a bazillion question about what they were doing, how they were following it, how many points, etc., but I think they're still confused and there are a lot of hurdles they have to overcome before they really get on track with the program (one being their outright refusal to journal), but I was just so excited that they went out, on their own, and walked into a meeting and stepped on that scale. That is more courage than I EVER had. So when I get the OK to say more, I'll be sure to shout it from the rooftops. because they're superduper cute and amazingly inspiring. and it was the motivation I needed to get focused on being 100 per cent OP again.

It's funny how someone else just starting off on a fitness quest can be almost more inspirational than marveling at someone who's lost a bazillion pounds and now runs ultra marathons. It takes so much courage to get going!

Best of luck to your friend and I have to agree, she's lucky to have a supportive pal like you to help her through those inevitable tough times.

hi stranger...stumbled on your blog thanks to google. wanted you to know that i am proud of you, and anyone who goes after what they want in life.

when you do end up speaking to your "friend" about their weight loss, I'd recommend not being overly excited for them ...only because there is a long and arduous road ahead and some of the excitement wears off pretty quickly. i'm only allowed to say this cause i finally lost 100 lbs myself and the more people knew what i was trying to do...the more pressure i felt...and the more angry i got at myself for not living up to their expectations.

one needs to realize that the only goal is being healthier than your former self.

Good for them! It's so hard to take that first step, it is the hardest. After you start to see some results, your motivation grows. Good for them. You must be so proud.

I remember when my best friend decided to start WW, I was so excited and proud. It's almost like a compliment really. Like they see how well you have done on it, and want to have that success too!
