Fall is upon us

despite the fact that today is supposed to be 28 degrees celsius, it's just about time to switch seasons. ...and I'm not ready for it. I am without pants that fit...again...and I am in need of new things to keep me occupied as my half marathon clinic is coming to a close with Scotia just NINE sleeps away and Toronto just two weeks after it. So I'm trying to think of things to fill my time from now until the new year and I've come up with a few ideas I'd thought I'd bounce off you guys.
  • Moksha Yoga - I love hot yoga! Such a good stretch but I neglected it for so long when I started running. Tons of classes and I don't have to register. Sort of pricey though.
  • Yoga for Runners - the classes would be one day a week just down the street from me. Better than the long trek to hot yoga classes.
  • Kickboxing - Jodi inspired me the other day. I wanted to try this in the spring but totally chickened out. Maybe I should do it now...
  • Knitting classes - there's a shop on Queen West called Romni Wools where I took a mitten class before that was wicked fun but they're only one day, not much for keeping me entertained LONG term...but could keep me busy with projects...and keep Laura off my back :P but the classes look sucky right now :(
any other ideas?

I've been trying to think of some new things to keep me active over the winter months and I've come up with a few

1. Ice skating -such good exercise and SO much fun!

2. Sliding - I know kind of kiddish but it's a great workout climbing up the hill 20 times and you can't help but love the rush!

3. Hiking - find a nature trail near you. This time of year is perfect for hiking and the trees are so beautiful

Those are just a few. I really like the idea of a new yoga class.

Oh I know I know! Why not pop out 4 kids? Never a dull moment I tell you, never. Of course, never a moment's peace either...

Yup, Fall is defiantly here!

Your ideas for keeping busy sound great! I got a kickboxing DVD and love it, but think it would be even better taken as a class!

I'm thinking about taking a cooking class, but don't know which one and I'm a little afraid of coming out of it McFattypants! And I don't want to end up with some pink goo either! lol

hahahah! how about purple goo?

I was thinking about cooking classes too, but was worried I'd spend more time in the kitchen!

I was also wondering about maybe taking a course to become certified to teach ESL so I could do tutoring or teach part-time or perhaps shift careers at some point...

I don't know about dance. I'm VERY unco-ordinated.

and four kids in one season...unless i was an actual mouse and could pop out a mini me every 20 days, don't think that's possible :P

Bikram yoga is also hot yoga. It will keep you nice a warm! I used to take kickboxing classes religiously about 5 years ago. It was really hard to begin with, but I eventually adjusted. I hope you decide to give it a try!

I love kickboxing...it is so high energy and always makes me feel ready to take on the world when I am finished...of course that is after the nap when I crash! Knitting is a hot thing right now and I always thought it would be cool to learn.

Have fun shopping for some pants that fit. I am looking forward to buying some fall/winter clothes too because I do not have anything that fits.

Another vote for kickboxing!! I was chicken at first too, but some girlfriends and I signed up and LOVE it!! It's been almost a year now and I can't imagine giving it up. Check it out!!!!!

Oh, and now I need to find a mitten class...that's sounds so fun!!

Well, at least you looked into it. There's no point in signing up for a knitting class if it doesn't appeal to you. :)

The knitting class I signed up for was cancelled due to lack of interest so I'm heading over to the shop today to get a refund. So, there ya go!

I didn't know you do yoga. I just started. It's hard. I look forward to getting better.

I don't suppose there are any classes that combine kickboxing and knitting?

Guess not.

I'm so impressed that you're so well-rounded. And that when you have a little extra free time the first thing you want to do is fill it up with is something good for you! I'd be eyeing the movie listings and the stack of juicy novels I haven't gotten to yet. Good for you!

I like kickboxing but I'm kind of a snob about it. If you get in with a good teacher, it's a fantastic workout. My other vote would be for a good spin class. They kick my booty. i can't do it every day, but it's good for a routine mixup.

(And I love that you said, "sleeps." My boys say that all the time. "how many sleeps until I go to preschool?" lol.)
