tracking tracks to stay on track

when i was on my trip there was a big room kerfuffle and i ended up getting upgraded to the "club" floor of the hotel, where you get free breakfast and a paper on monday (whee!). So I was reading USA Today (a horrible paper, by the way. What is up with their sports section? it's like it's written backwards! how do you Americans deal with it?) and there's a column about the way in which people track their exercise. Oddly enough, I think I do almost everything on her little list and I noticed this when I took my new shoes for a spin last night with a 4km run (they were christened in a nice light rain too). I carry quite a lot of crap when I run. I've got a Garmin 205, an iPod Nano with the Nike + attachment (which I totally MacGyvered to my shoe before I went out since I didn't buy an attachment yet), then there's a hat if it's raining, sunglasses if it's sunny, fuel belt if it's over 8km or hella hot. But the tracking devices are the kicker. I carry two. Why? Two because both seem to be inaccurate at the best of times. My Nike + overestimates most of the time now (although last night it underestimated for the first time!) and then my Garmin likes to lose it satellite feed around the downtown core (the manual says something about staying away from office towers...apparently it expects to run in open fields or something....) But then what do I go and do? ...well, besides going back and synching these bad boys back up to my 'puter and their individual software programs to see pretty graphs and maps...I go and write down my runs in a little training log that I was given at a run. We won't even discuss the fact that I also have to account for the activity in my points tracker...no no... i wonder how i manage to keep it all together?! I think life would be simpler if I just put monkeys on a calendar. :)

hahaha we all have our own little quirks eh!

If I was doing all the running you do, I'd want to be calling it in to CTV or something!

It's funny how we all get set in our own ways and like things done a certain way. It's great that you keep track because you can see how far you have come and the amazing progress you are making!
(Although monkeys would be a nice touch!!)
