GB&U - long weekend edition

a day late and 7 cents short (can i tell you how much I LOVED the exchange rate this weekend?!) - here's your good, bad & ugly - with a little american flavour - I typed FLAVOUR, firefox. where's my damn Canadian English dictionary? i'm back home. no more spelling things without Us and "checks" instead of "cheques" stop underlining things, i say!! Anyway, on with the show... Good - Exchange rate and outlet shopping - makes for a happy little brother at home when you bring home a brand new Lacoste polo that cost you $56US which retails for about $100 here Bad - Exchange rate, outlet shopping and credit card - there's a reason i never use this thing. it's evil in plastic form. E-V-I-L. Good thing I fear customs and stayed below my limit of $400 Ugly - Customs Agents - YEEESH. Can we please hire some attractive ones to work Niagara? If i'm going to get searched and detained, he better be hot. that's all i'm saying. Good - being in the US means access to a BAZILLION 100 calorie packs and more WW products to choose from! I was like a kid in a candy store! and Starbucks on every corner! Bad - travelling = eating out and ginormous portion sizes. they even have larger-sized happy meals at McDonald's even called super kids or mega kids or something empowering...I don't see what's empowering about giving a kid a double hamburger or the same portion of nuggets that an adult would consume... Ugly - the bloat I am experiencing today, my missed WI yesterday and the number my scale showed this morning. ugly is also me without Starbucks yesterday. it wasn't pretty, i tells ya. Good - I found my running shoes in RED in the US. I have been trying to find them all over TO since I saw them at the Nike Lounge a few months ago. I spent $119 for my blue ones - $39 US for my new red ones. WOOHOO Bad - no Nike+ pod for my sensor in the left shoe. boooourns! Ugly - the only running i saw this weekend was the NYC half marathon and dodging pedestrians in Manhattan. Today's run should be fun. Good - Touristy pictures to prove you actually went somewhere Bad - When your travelling companions ditch you when you suggest a picture with the Times Square Naked Cowboy Ugly - After the, er, tame shot where he puts your hands on his inflated pecs, he then tells you to take another where he pulls your hair and tells you that you have to grab his ass. I'm still trying to get the stank off my hands...
But i did ♥ NY.

I was you when I was in New Hampshire outlet shopping and disappearing in the isles upon isles of 100 calorie heaven. I made out like a bandet.

I also felt gross and bloated from all the crap I consumed there. I'm still recovering.

Never been to NY, but have always wanted to! Looks like you had fun!

I was lucky enough to pretty much get waved through customs (without even checking our passports I should mention) and a simple "How much are you declaring?" A few receipts may have gotten lost on the way...

I came back slightly disgusted when I realized how shafted we are in Canada to be paying the prices we pay for the SAME items (oh, and no tax in NH either!)

Nike makes an adapter for the Nike+ now so you can put them on any shoe. I saw them at The Running Room this weekend.

I love NY too! You're very brave for getting your pix with Naked Cowboy...he scares me! Congrats on all the shopping deals too. 100 calorie packs rock, but at the same time it is easy to consume many packs at a time thinking they are only worth 2 points so what the heck...my scale doesn't think the same thing it seems!

Oh and by the way Goodlife is hosting some specialty Yoga and Pilates classes for the month of August. Next Thursday they have a Yoga for runners for $13 (even for nonmembers which I am) early bird. My aunt is a member and forwarded me the email, if you didn't get it I can forward it to you.

that is the freaking funniest picture ever, I don't know what strikes me as funnier, some guy in tighty whites pulling your hair, your expression or your hand on his ass.. LOL

I remember when the exchange rates were WAY differnt, and all of Canada was on sale! That rocked. Oh well, it's your turn now, seems only fair.

Never thought about how annoying a US based spell-check would be.

I also just love that the Blogger spell-check highlights the word "blog" every damn time.

Sounds like a great trip!

What a great trip. Customs (whoops, almost wrote costumes-heehee) agents are Weird...with a capitol W. It's not just Niagara though. I'm pretty sure they go through creep-you-out training.

this is why you should be flying. every other customs dude at the airport is 100-calorie pack yummy.

and how come i never noticed he was pulling your hair!?! i'd be all defensive and stuff, but you're home in one piece.

It's interesting to read the comments about the food here. I think after a while you stop noticing that there's Starbucks on every corner or that the food portions are *huge*. You just expect it! (Ahg!). Hilarious picture! It makes me want to wash my hands, too. :)
