don't push me 'cuz i'm close to the edge...

I get in a funk around my birthday every year. I get all crazy because I look back and feel I haven't been as successful as I should have been, haven't accomplished enough, don't have anything to show for it, yadda yadda yadda. Last year people told me to get my head out of my arse and look at the huge changes I made in my health and physical appearance, which I was quite grateful for. This year I'm thankful for the great strides I've made in my physical strength and running abilities, but I still want more. There's career goals, personal goals, etc. - things I still want and seem totally unattainable. and why I still feel like a big fat failure. So I mope my way into work today.... and end up with a HUGE pile of crap already on my desk... and i start snapping. bets on when I start yelling, screaming and crying? ***10:30 eastern time update*** Shirls comments made me cry. ♥

I just got back from my WW meeting, a meeting in which they talked about the different kinds of support people offer and how you need those different types at different times...

today I choose to be the "straight up, can be hurtful honest" support person for you and give you a big boot in the arse!

What the hell is up with this freaking post girl? ah hello, other companies call you to see if you can sell their products for them! obviously you kick ass in your career, your wanted and are a great assest! Running? again another boot to the arse! aren't you the girl who just did a 16km??, my god amazing! and lets not even get into the weight and the amazing lifetime maintenance girl that you are....

you have earned a huge boot in the arse today, girl! pull it together and take some pride in yourself the rest of us are beyond proud of you!

I can soooo relate to this post.

I'm convinced that (*surprise!*) it has little to do with how much you've actually accomplished and everything to do with how you see yourself. Tell the critical voice in your head to "shut the hell up!" You're fine. You don't need to do "X" to be successful, and oddly enough your happiness is not dependent on meeting the goals you think you should. The goals will always be one step ahead of you in this mind set, keeping you from allowing yourself to be happy.

See what I mean?

Wanting more is good... it pushes us to grow.

Being unhappy about how you arrived at where you are now is not so good... it undermines your personal path in life... it devalues who you are and how you became this lovely person.

Who wants everything to go perfectly and exactly as planned all the time? That's no fun!

Enjoy the ride!

You completely rock from all angles. Take your birthday as an opportunity to CELEBRATE all that you are, a friggin inspiration to 456,987 people :)

We are all still youngin's and if we feel badly now on our b-days, we've got no chance when we're 50!

Ya, what they all said!! You are gonna be black and blue in the bum with all of our kicking. You asked for it, so here it is!!!

Cheer up girl. It's only a birthday, not a landmark to look back and be disappointed.

If you have to, get out a pen and paper and start with the "positive" vs "negative" list and you will soon see which list is longer!!!
