Today I am grateful for...

So I watched that show Big Medicine last night...and yeah, I wasn't impressed. Two ladies - both started at just over 300lbs and a morbidly obese man of about 700lbs and their journeys with gastric bypass and plastic surgery. They highlighted how happy one woman was to have great sex after surgery and the other was paraded around in a bikini after her tummy tuck, a year after her bypass. Then there was the dear gentleman who was too large to go to the hospital on his own and the ordeal he had to go through from his parents' home to the ambulance then to the hospital bed - made me sad. BUT... it was him emerging from the house and experiencing the sun for the first time in a long time that made me actually gasp. Something I sooooo take for granted but he never gets to experience in his bed ridden state. So today, I am grateful for the fact that I have always been able to enjoy the sunshine, the rain, the snow and the clouds. In good times and in bad, in "big" times and now(and again, my silly subjective big). Even in my self-imposed hermit stages of depression, I could still go out and enjoy nature on a whim. Never even thought about that... Who knew such a huge blob of bubbling gases could be so important? I think my pale ass is going to bask in its glow a little longer today.

I couldn't get myself to watch that show. It bugs me how they keep creating these shows about obese people, parading them around like circus acts. Yuck!

But you're right - we sure do take that sun for granted! Enjoy it's rays - we won't be seeing much of it in MB today... again!

Hm, I saw commercials again for that the other night...I had almost forgotten about the show...I was angered in the ad by a young girls voice who said "I only want to be a pretty, normal teenager"...ok...since when does "fat" = ugly and abnormal...
Hm...also, being skinny doesn't always enhance your sex life...
AND, I know for a fact that at 300 lbs you can haul your ass to the gym and learn healthy eating habits...

what happens when all these people gain back the weight because they haven't learned how to keep it off??? They just had the magic operation to make it all "go away"...it's still lurking underneath!!

HOWEVER, for the man who is 700 lbs...I think that is a fantastic start for him and I hope that he learns to appreciate the wonderful things that he has been given (I also imagine that he would have to work a bit to acheive a healthy weight too....I don't think they could bring him down 500+ lbs...I could be wrong!)

Good luck with the sun today!!!! I enjoy the sun with an SPF 45 and a big hat with sunglasses...yet, I want a wicked tan!

I watched it last night aswell and my post today reflects on the "loose skin' aspect of what I saw.

Yes, I absolutely cannot imagine what life must have been like for the man weighing 700 lbs. Wow

I don't think I will be able to watch that show. I know for some that gastric bypass/other surgical procedures are their last resort, but really, look at all the weight all of us have lost! It's AMAZING!! Who knew that healthy eating and exercise would make such a difference. *rolls eyes*

Hope you enjoyed the sun! I was downtown all day yesterday shopping and I didn't even want to be in the mall!
