a tale of two lunches

I gots me a dilemma.

My coworker, the little devil Kris I've mentioned before, has brought me another little treat today....

PANCIT!!!!

It's a Filipino noodle dish that is yum yum yum! Usually I get my hands on the stuff at the holidays at my brother Kevin's house as my sister-in-law Giselle is Filipino and it's a traditional dish to have at a family meal. It's not exactly good for your waistline but the tracker says it's only 5 points for a cup (yet Pad Thai is 8 for a cup...someone explain this to me because pancit is faaaaaaaaaar greasier!)

Anywho, I'm at a crossroad here. Do I cave and eat the sacred pancit that has been brought as my reward for trying to avoid processed food all last week (which I failed miserably at, Kris full well knows but he also knows how I adore pancit. See why he's the devil and such a sweetheart all at the same time, ladies?)? Now, it looks like it's at least 2 to 2 1/2 cups of the stuff there so we're looking at a 10 to 15 point meal. Or do I eat the yummy portion controlled Chunky soup I brought for lunch which is 6.5 points and then eat the Peak Freans thinsations I FINALLY found this weekend at Dominion and almost had a bird over (which make me want to start drinking tea again, very weird. Must be childhood memories of eating the biscuits at my gran's with tea...oh the memories!)?

So - what would YOU do?

oh, and MAD respect to shrunk on her 10km yesterday. so impressed! can't wait for mine in 3 weeks!!!

**5P.M. EDIT**

The pancit stayed in the fridge and i had my soup, as planned - although i almost had a third lunch option ...i was supposed to go to swiss chalet with jammer for lunch. WHOOPS!

I'm going to measure it out for dinner and add more veggies! It's amazing how the temptation to cheat goes away when you share the details with other people :)

I'd go with the original lunch - but warm up 1/2c or so of the pancit to satiate the craving. Before you can eat the rest, put it in the fridge - and have a yummy dinner tomorrow! Pancit all over again.

That way you can have your cookies and try the delicious noodles, too. :)

I would go with your planned lunch and bring the pancit home, measure out your portions have some for dinner tonight then some for your lunch tomorrow, so you can get the best of both worlds :)

I just read your post about the headaches, thanks babes, it might very well be because of my long run yesterday. We ran 9 km and the wind was blowing hard and hitting my ears, I din't even think of that, maybe my food too, I'll double check my journal later, thanks again, you are the best :)

I would have a little but of the treat and go with your original lunch.
BTW... could Kris have a little crush going on for the Mouse?

I would go with original lunch but maybe have a few bites of the pancit. Then have more of it at home when I could pair it with some veggies.

I'd also go with the original lunch and plan on the pancit for lunch tomorrow (or supper tonight).

I LOFF that soup... so I'd go with it. Its even yummier when you add FF sour cream to it. SO good!

PS- I also get migraines after crazy intense workouts or long runs. I also get exercised induced hives after long runs... weird.

NO CONTEST

Chunky Soup wins it - At all times,

i vote for chunky and then eat the others for dinner/lunch tomorrow (split into 2 meals)... maybe a smaller portion of processed food will not be as hard on your system as last time...

i agree with most of the others, eat the soup and then leave the pancit for later and tomorrow! (sorry for stealing the good, bad & ugly, i forgot you posted that, LOL!!!!)

I impressed you? OMG! I IMPRESSED MARIE! You are my RUNNING GOD!!! This makes me so happy. So, I'm thinkin'...and I may be crazy...but there's a half marathon clinic coming up at the Running Room near me in June. I'm thinking that I might take it and run the race at the end (The Okanagon Half Marathon). Do you think that I could do it? That 10k wasn't too bad. I was super sore yesterday, and a little today, but I really want to push it further and have a new goal to strive for. Am I nuts? Please be honest.

Thks for recognizing my run on your blog. That really means alot to me Marie :O)

seriously, i am so impressed and now i have to beat your time! :P

the half clinic is actually my next goal (after I finish the 10km clinic I'm in). I get A LOT of feedback from veteran runners around the RR i'm in that if I'm going to do a 10km that I might as well do a half and I would highly recommend a clinic to ANYONE! they build you up really slowly so you'll only be running 6-8km at first, and you're able to do that no sweat! RR is really great. you'll meet lots of new people and learn a lot about running and training! try it out!
