this week I joined my gym and today I saw myself on a treadmill next to me. Not me as I am now, but me about a year ago. The girl who doctors and health care professionals have told she has a unhealthy BMI but she's getting up off her ass at 6:30a.m. on a crappy day in TO and doing something about it. She's getting on a treadmill and trying her hand at jogging. She's increasing and decreasing the speed on the machine to where she feels comfortable because all that matters is that she's moving, active and building up endurance. Even though I saw myself a bit in her, I was really jealous of her at the same time (and I felt a bit weird watching her every now and again out of curiosity). She appears to have so much more confidence than I ever did and even have now. She doesn't hide what speed she's running at (a lot of people do...weird competitions at the gym), she's confident with her appearance and her routine, never letting it or any of the gym rats stop her on her way to her goal. Honestly, I think she fuckin rocks. So thanks to that lady at the gym today - you inspired me and totally made a crappy day bright!

That's a GREAT post, Mousie! I wish I was confident enough to drag myself to the gym. I always have an excuse. Maybe I'll make that next month's goal!

That's awesome. I bet you would love to tell her that, but don't want to impose on her or seem presumptuous. I bet she would love to hear something like that and would be inspired by you.

I love it. Whenever I see someone like that at the gym, I want to say something, but then it would probably be awkward and I don't know if they would appreciate the comment. I think back to when I could hardly run or do anything at the gym and if someone said something to me, even if it was positive, I would think they were mocking me. Ah yes, how the mind works is an interesting thing.

It's nice when strangers make your day better without even knowing it! There are angels everywhere.

obvously beyond great for her, getting out there and getting it done! But for you, what a great reminder of how far you've come and how much endurance and strength you have built. A wonderful gym experience all around!
