from the mouths of babes...

so yesterday sucked BIG TIME. big migraine and my expensive medication did NOT work for HOURS, i had some employee drama i had to resolve at work while being in MAJOR pain and then I had an eye doctor appointment which made me totally forget about my prom dress by the time I got to my parents house before my Chiro appointment.

ok, actually something else made me totally forget about the dress...it was my nieces who were there. They're cute, eh?

The little one stole my soup yesterday, loves my lambchop mittens (must always feed them when I come over and then put them down for naps) and the older one draws me kickass pictures and shows me her amazing Irish dancing skills.

I am always in awe. But last night, I was brought to tears.

I spent the afternoon and evening with them at my parents house, then came home. Then my mother called me. "Sydney (the older one) just found the article on the fridge" ...no one told her yesterday I ask..."guess not..she asked why you were in the paper, I told her that you had lost a lot of weight by eating right and exercising and now you help people by writing on the computer and Sydney said 'GOOD JOB AUNT MARIE!' I just thought I'd share that with you."

Thanks Mom. I think that's just about the BEST validation on my journey I've EVER had.

...and i promise to go back over to my parents house today or tomorrow to get that pic taken...maybe today, as Syd is still there and I can give her a BIG squeeze.

It always means more when a child says something, doesn't it? They're so brutally honest and unguarded. What a sweetie your neice is! (Well, it sounds like both of them are!)

Sorry to hear about the migraine... I hope you're feeling better now. I've never had one so I don't know how awful they are, but I know they debilitated my grandmother for years, so I can begin to imagine...

Hope you have a good weekend, Marie! And thanks again for being a constant inspiration.

That's a pretty rockin' moment of validation... :) Made me smile.

You have two very beautiful little nieces there! It looks like Auntie Marie has already become an excellent roll model. I can see why that would be the simplest, purest reason to feel validated for reaching this point in your journey.

I love this story.. last year my youngest nephew was told I had lost 100 lbs and he didn't believe it, he proclaimed "aunty's always thin" I love him!

Wow the pic is amazing, they are so adorable. I had a crap day at work yesterday as well, glad to see we are not alone and soe how manage to stay a float. Marie you truly are an inspiration to me, I can't say it enough. You rock! and anyone that dismisses you hard effort at getting to where you are has never done something truly difficult themselves, remeber that. Have a great evening

When kids say that too you, you can take it for all it's worth because it is honest and from the heart! Makes it so much more special! Congrats.

I agree with natty, kids are always so honest and that is the most wonderful thing to hear from a child!!! Congrats on all your successes, even the little ones are noticing!!!
