Sometimes all it takes is a little Dad...

to gain a lot of perspective. And he is little - 5'4....so cute :) That's us camping last year. I go out with his scout troop every now and again when they need a female adult or a first aider. Plus, it doesn't take much to convince me to go camping (contemplating going with them next month - LOVE winter camping!). So I was still miffed about "my smaller girls can't buy weight watchers products without attracting negative attention" experiences when I ventured over to my parents' house last night. I needed to be in the beach to go to my cousin Mike's birthday party and my doctor's appointment this morning (we'll save THAT gem for later...). Health, weight loss, fitness, etc. always come up between me and my pops because both he and my mother are overweight for their tiny statures. I've tried to cook meals for them when I come over, I've tried to give them suggestions about how they should go for more walks at night, cut down on their portion sizes, stop eating out so much and avoid all of the treats. I think it's really important for them, especially since they mind my nieces so much and it's critical that they have proper nutrition and eating habits. So Dad listens to my story, sighs and laughs. "Oh my poor mouse," he said. "We're going to have to make you a button to wear that says 'I'm an after'." How much cuter can this man get? Obviously he's been watching TV a little too much lately and has seen the WW commercials. It was just sooo the right thing to say to me and I love him for it! Then I went out for my cousin's birthday and met up with elementary school friends I hadn't seen in about 3 years and one of my best friends I had a falling out with last year. She's been on WW too and she looks great! She's about 10lbs away from her goal - so exciting! The great thing was when the two of us walked into the bar and 4 of the guys didn't even recognize us. One of them thought I was one of my younger cousins who was supposed to make an appearance. It's funny watching people trying to awkwardly bring up your weight loss with you without saying you were overweight before or trying not to ask you how much you've lost for fear of offending you, the latter part I found a little strange. So it was a great night, but a terrible morning. Appears my doctor has up and moved his practice and not informed all of his patients so I missed a half a day of work for no good reason (although it gave me time to find a new doctor and spend time with my dear ol' dad). I was hoping to have the more "official" results of how much weight I've lost since that was the first scale that brought me to WW, but I guess I'll see when I meet the new doc next week!

You're an after!!! That's so cute. I think it's wonderful that you are trying to encourage your parents to get a healthier lifestyle - it's hard though.
